Gift Giving for Someone that Deserves to Relax
Posted November 24, 2020
It’s the stay-at-home mom that has a baby on her hip, a barking dog, macaroni boiling over the pan, Paw Patrol blaring from the television speakers and a Zoom call notification all at once. It’s the stay-at-home dad that realizes he hasn’t cleaned the cat’s litter box in a week, didn’t change his spit-up stained pajama shirt before a conference call and almost fell in the shower when the baby started crying again. Both of these people thrive on a mess and love their kids more than the sun itself. Deep down though, when they imagine a moment of quiet, their lips quiver. The last time they let loose was Spring Break of 2004 or (maybe) their wedding. And they need a break. It’s good to have a plan.
Let’s shop. Hope you have a pen!
1. Basically any one of these candles from Rose & Loon or Bath & Body Works.
It doesn’t get much better than a full shelf of candles that smell like heaven. Matt and Blake, founders of Koselig Candle Co. run their craft well. “Koselig” doesn’t simply mean “cozy”. It’s simply a state of being brought on by an atmosphere. It stems from a desire for strong relationships and warm havens in our lives. (Writer’s Note: I’m listening). They believe a great candle can bring us together to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Well, here’s to that. These candles can ground even the person who is juggling the most with just one deep breathe. Anyone who deserves to relax, deserves to practice a solid mantra like Koselig’s.
As they say, nobody puts Bath and Body Works candles in a corner. Do they say that? I don’t know. If you want one of the best wick’s in the biz, Fresh Balsam is your gal. It’s a holiday staple and is one of those things “everyone wants to buy, but rarely actually buys for themselves.” You know what? You’d better buy two (I mean, you need to relax too).
2. The Aveda power trifecta: cherry almond hair products, stress-fix composition oil and Aveda Comforting Tea.
Aveda has game in the self-care world and their shop in Rosedale Center is no different. If you’re looking for some pampering options for the busy loved one in your life, the cherry almond body care products are truly next level. Usually those who are busy rarely indulge themselves, but trust me when I tell you that this self care routine will have their Mondays feeling like Sunday 2.0. They smell like an almond cake and do wonders for a beauty routine. Literally, I would eat the stuff for $10.
If you don’t have a stash of this on your nightstand, you should. Times are weird and tough, and everyone that’s caught running like a lost chicken deserves to center themselves every 10 minutes (at least). The Stress-Fix products at Aveda are lovely. The aroma is proven to reduce stress with certified lavender, lavandin, sage, and pure essential oils. I put it on my temples and lower back right after a hot shower and, let me tell you, OOF (am I in an alternate universe that has outlawed stres??).
If you’ve ever been a high school student that discovers pampering for the first time at an Aveda Salon (Writer’s Note: my first pamper moment) and LOVED IT, you have likely fallen deeply in love with the coveted Aveda Comforting Tea. They sell it right in store with a big red bow on it. And, folks, great gifts don’t need to get more literal than that. It’s the perfect right-before-bed sipper.
3. AP Botanics Night Serum or Men’s Personal Care Set
For reference, we put some of this on our hands and it’s like magical hummingbird serum. It’s really lovely. AP Botanics is actually founded by a former wildlife biologist and science teacher, Kyle Lafond and their facility is just a hop and skip away in South Central Wisconsin.
Men deserve to relax and self-pamper, too! (PLUS, the smell turns them into a total babe-magnet.)
4. A set of essential oil rollerballs. Or, the whole kit and kaboodle.
You can’t go wrong for the stressed out loved one that needs to take a long, deep breath. Whie you’ll be buying your loved one a product that will help their mental health, Essence One is a unique brand that is sure to please. After battling anxiety and depression, Lauren became interested in crafting natural products that result in a positive mental health outcome. Her uplifting calming bath and beauty line have a huge impact in positivity and have helped so many humans. Her infectious drive for her business is reflected in her support for various mental health organizations.
Of course, if you want to go BOGO on a gift, Essence One has deodorant, natural oils and more that you can tuck happily in a cute little satchel from Six for Good. Viola! You have a perfect gift bag for the stay-at-home anyone.
5. A palo santo gemstone bundle.
All the rage is the crystal game. Palo Santo is such a lovely outlet for those wanting to relax and the various crystals featured above will surely give your friend or loved one perspective. Even better, the Six for Good store at Rosedale Center started with six women business owners in an effort to promote goodness. Their passion to work with and support the small business community is next to none. This is a definite feel-good purchase. If you want to mix it up a bit, try this jade mini eye roller kit from Von Maur.
6. LUSH bath bombs. Or basically anything inside that store.
Because, hello, baths are the best cure for the busy. LUSH has so many products to choose from and you can basically walk into the store and grab anything in there to make your busy stay-at-home mom or dad happy. Here are a few quick products we love: this beauty sleep face and body mask, any of these bath bombs, or this big shampoo for a spa-like experience.
7. Something pretty, like an Evereve sweater.
You can’t go wrong with Evereve! We really love a cozy sweater to keep those busy super cozy. There is something about slipping on a fashion forward yet soft and warm top that makes busy days seem more manageable. We especially love this marble print pull-over.
8. A variety pack of cool face masks, of course.
Let’s be real, no one can say “no” to a glitter face mask. Especially the kind of person that needs to take a moment for themselves. Putting on a 10 minute mask can start a timeout during a day where they are doing everything for everyone else, or decompress a day full of chaos before finally settling in for the night. Sephora has a great selection of fun masks. Here are some favorites: a rose gold mask, a gold mask, or this really cool mini kit.
