Challenging the Idea of What a Mall Can Be: Experiential Environment

Posted October 8, 2020

Deadly Drive-In event at Rosedale Center.

At Rosedale Center, we like to think of our shopping mall as more than a place to buy merchandise from popular brands. It’s also a venue to enjoy unique experiences.

In recent years, we’ve transformed our mall into a community gathering space for seasonal events, drag and fashion shows, artful exhibitions, MN state fair foods—you name it! And one thing we’ve learned is that customers love variety.

More than this, customers actively look for opportunities to support local artists and businesses and try new experiences with their community.

At Rosedale, There’s Always Room for New Adventure

We don’t like to brag, but at Rosedale, we offer a unique setting to host your next event or start your business venture right in the heart of the Twin Cities. We’ve created a reputation as a fun, family-friendly event space, where people of all ages come to experience a unique mix of inspiring exhibits, performances, and artwork—all by local artisans and big-name brands.

And our shopping center has embraced new practices to ensure all visitors can enjoy each event at a safe social distance.

  • Beginning October 15, for instance, our new Halloween event, Deadly Drive-In, is designed to deliver the chills and excitement of a typical haunted house experience from the socially distant position of your car. Created by Flip Phone, the event production company responsible for our shopping center’s wildly successful drag show last spring, this event is packed with more thrills, shrieks, and heart-pounding entertainment than any Halloween event our guests will experience this year.

And this is just one event our guests can look forward to in 2020.

  • Now through November 1st, Rosedale is also hosting ART 2020. This free event is curated and produced by Minneapolis-based exhibit design and curatorial firm, Bishop/Iverson and will feature everything from surprising mini-installations to larger-than-life creations designed by many influential artists and designers who live, work, and play in the Twin Cities.

How Can Experiential Events Benefit Your Business?

Having a retail store located in the center of a rotating event space, like Rosedale, helps create more exposure for your brand. It also means you’re now part of a popular entertainment culture that offers new and exciting activities to draw in more people every year.

And let’s not forget that when people are enjoying special events, performances, and runway shows, they tend to stay longer in one place, creating even more impressions for your shop and more opportunities to engage customers with promotions, sales, and special releases.
